Abstract

This research is to find out the Communication Model for improving the tourism sector on the coast of Bengkulu City. It also knows the map of the utilization of natural resources in the coastal area of ​​Bengkulu City by the local community. The method used in this research is explorative research with a qualitative descriptive approach. Informants in this study were taken by using a purposive sampling technique. The informants in this research are community groups living in the coastal areas of the city of Bengkulu starting from Kampung Melayu to the Pasar Baru area of ​​Bengkulu City who has businesses on the coast such as fishermen, seafood traders, and the community that provides recreational stalls. This research is at the core of research to find out the Communication Model for improving the tourism sector in the coastal area of ​​Bengkulu City. From the results of research that has been conducted by researchers from the results of the analysis, researchers note that the appropriate Communication Model is carried out in improving the tourism sector in the coastal area of ​​Bengkulu City by the government as a policyholder, namely direct communication or direct communication without using mass media to coastal communities. For the right Communication Model used in conducting socialization to the community in improving the tourism sector on the coast of Bengkulu, namely using the Harold Lasswell Model
