Abstract
The rapid development of information technology has brought politics closer to people's daily lives, especially Gen Z, whose time is almost never separated from cellphones and the internet. Gen Z grew up unlike their predecessors who liked to talk about debates on the world's great ideologies, so Gen Z has its own unique, fluid and creative way of modifying many things, including political ideology. Various previous studies have shown that generation Z acts more as a consumer, rather than being strategically involved in politics. The large percentage of their political activity behavior also tends to be passive, such as just watching, reading, commenting and not wanting to get involved further in strategic affairs in the field. This indicates that an ambiguous attitude towards political affairs is still a big problem for this group. Their political stance is still limited to reading political information or commenting and debating on social media. This research was conducted to find out how the perceptions of students who have attended and graduated from Citizenship Education courses, about the political conditions of the Indonesian state ahead of the 2024 General Elections and how political news influences perceptions which ultimately manifest into their political actions as suggested by previous studies.
